Ep 1. Welcome to INiYH Podcast
Welcome to the podcast! We are so excited to reveal this project to you. In our initial episode, Dan and I will cover why we called the project "It's Not in Your Head", and what we want to accomplish through it.
We get into Justine and Dan’s backgrounds, experience and motivations, how Justine came to develop Resilient Warrior Coaching and her MARSMethod, and how we came together to tackle chronic pain and complex, poorly understood topics within it like central sensitization so we can treat them more effectively.
Through the process of developing this podcast, we have both gained unique insight into the others perspective. We hope through listening to it, you too can better understand where patients and clinicians are coming from, and we can come together to better solve the challenges in pain care.
Introduction
"It's Not in Your Head" is a podcast hosted by Dr. Dan Bates, a physician, and Justine Feitelson, a pain coach and movement professional. Their goal is to explore better ways to manage complex chronic pain for both patients and providers.
Why "It's Not in Your Head"?
The title addresses a common misconception in chronic pain treatment. Many patients feel their symptoms are dismissed as being "in their head" due to explanations that suggest pain is a misinterpretation of signals or that the pain driver is gone. This approach can make patients feel disbelieved and create barriers to effective treatment.
